Research conservatively estimates that the Arena Mall’s three catchment areas will contain approximately 800,000 individuals by 2010.
Primary catchment area:
As the main retail offering for Dubai Sports City, the Arena Mall will attract over 70,000 individuals residing and working within the development for shopping, dining and entertainment on a regular basis. Guests staying at Dubai Sports City’s two hotels will also fall within this primary catchment area.
Secondary catchment area:
Dubai residents and passing trade will form the Arena Mall’s second catchment area, and these individuals will view the Arena Mall as a preferred shopping destination. A significant number of affluent developments within a 30-minute drive time from the mall fall within this sector. By 2008, this area will make up 14% of Dubai’s total population and will be the City’s premier residential area with an annual retail potential estimated at AED 2.8 billion. The Arena Mall’s clear visibility from Emirates Road will also draw in the significant passing trade that commutes daily between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Tertiary catchment area:
With its unique and impressive entertainment offering, Dubai Sports City will be a major crowd-puller and the large numbers of tourists and visitors attracted to the site will form the Arena Mall’s tertiary catchment area. With direct pedestrian access from Dubai Sports City’s 10,000-seater indoor stadium and close proximity to the cricket and outdoor multi-purpose stadiums, the Arena Mall will benefit from elevated footfall all year round from spectators looking to shop and dine before, during or after events. Further visitor patronage will come from those attending Dubai Sports City’s many other sports facilities and commercial districts.
